FOR PATIENTS

Healthy mouth, healthy body: oral health affects your overall health.

Modern dentistry is no longer possible without digital X-ray imaging which is the most common diagnostic test in dental medicine.

X-ray imaging of teeth and jaws can help us identify hidden dental irregularities and determine the appropriate treatment.

Our experts will help you with their knowledge, state-of-the-art technology and high-quality X-rays, so that your teeth issues will be sorted out and will not remain unnoticed.

In the past, a typical dental examination was based on recording images on a photographic film by using ionising X-rays. Modern dental examinations still rely on ionizing X-rays, however, the monitoring and recording systems are digital

Final images are stored digitally and can be processed by using a special computer programme. Digital devices allow for three-dimensional imaging techniques.

Patients are exposed to low-dose radiation.

Tips from Your Dentist

Periodic preventive X-ray examinations render possible early detection of caries or even granuloma.

On the basis of an x-ray image analysis, your oral health status can be assessed by a dentist at your request.

It is recommended that preventive X-ray examination is performed every three to five years.

PATIENT INSTRUCTIONS PRIOR TO X-RAY EXAMINATION

Ionising Radiation Protection Act (Official Gazette of the Republic of Slovenia, No. 102/04 and amendments) stipulates that only a person who was previously examined by a doctor and referred for imaging may be X-rayed. This means that X-ray imaging cannot be undertaken without a doctor’s referral, even if it is a self-pay X-ray scan. An X-ray scan shall be performed within 14 days of referral.

Patients seeking treatment in our dental office are required to provide a referral bearing our logo which shall be given to you by your chosen dentist.

Guidelines and safety tips

We are dedicated to maintaining the highest professional radiology standards, therefore we take into account your wishes and pay attention to your well-being. All our examinations are pain-free and it is expected that collaborative interaction is established between patients and our employees (breathing, holding still in a particular position, following instructions).

As radiation exposure can be harmful to your body, you are kindly requested to discuss any concerns with our medical staff before an X-ray examination and always tell them if you are pregnant or if you have any other health risks and issues. We follow the rule that the benefits of an X-ray examination should outweigh radiation risks.

Before entering the X-ray radiation area, please remove all jewellery and any clothing covering your head and neck, thus facilitating our work. By doing so you will significantly contribute to reduced queues and smooth work processes, for which we are truly grateful.

X-ray imaging is an examination where the part of the body being imaged is shown with X-rays. You will be exposed to X-rays only during an imaging procedure (a few milliseconds). You will be left alone in the radiology room. It is important that you stay completely still at that time and follow the instructions of our medical staff.
